Celebrity charity day raises funds for the Rainbow Trust

Symantec : 17 December, 2009  (Company News)
A charity auction held by Symantec UK Consulting at its annual event has raised money for the Rainbow Trust children's charity
Thousands of pounds have been raised for Rainbow Trust Children's Charity thanks to the generosity of Symantec UK Consulting's clients at its annual Christmas Drinks and Charity Auction. Guests from Symantec's UK Consulting division were in attendance at the event which took place on 8 December, including Financial Times, News International, HSBC, JPMorgan, Sun Microsystems, Xstrata, Codeworks, RBS, Cap Gemini, Ford Motor Co.

This was the first time in the event's 13 year history that it was directly linked to a charity, chosen by host Geordan Murphy, Leicester Tigers captain and current Irish Grand Slam winner. A combination of a silent auction, a live auction, and a raffle - with prizes ranging from rugby shirts and balls to holidays and a Symantec Director as an assistant for the day - saw an impressive amount of funds raised.

"We are delighted with the support of Geordan Murphy, Symantec UK Consulting, and its clients. The party was not only great fun but it also raised vital funds for the charity which will enable us to support families in need," said Louise Bingham, Rainbow Trust Children's Charity. "Furthermore, Symantec UK Consulting also topped up the pot to ensure that beneficiaries of Rainbow Trust Children's Charity have a very merry Christmas."

"We were delighted to be able to work with Geordan in support of Rainbow Trust Children's Charity. The generosity shown by our clients and partners was truly outstanding. It was a memorable evening and I'm already being asked if we're going to do it again next Christmas! Our clients really got into the spirit of the night, and we raised over £8,000 on the night and with our corporate charity matching programme we hope that number will increase significantly," said Adrian Spink, Senior Director, Symantec UK and Ireland Consulting.

"We had some incredible prizes donated for the auction including a 50in Plasma TV from Codeworks and News International donated a behind- the-scenes day at a celebrity photo shoot for Fabulous magazine. Also JCL Burns Sheehan donated a day's corporate hospitality at London Irish rugby club," finished Adrian Spink.
