Casualty Simulation Contract for G4S

G4S Secure Solutions (UK And Ireland) : 06 October, 2010  (Application Story)
The British Army has contracted G4S Gurkha Services to provide casualty simulation services for training Army Gurkhas
G4S Gurkha Services, which provides former British Army Gurkhas for a wide range of critical security tasks, has been awarded the Casualty Simulation (CASSIM) contract for Army sub-units and individuals undertaking pre-deployment training. The 18 month contract, which is effective immediately, was awarded by the HQ Land Warfare Centre and will be serviced in partnership with Trauma FX, which is the UK's leading provider of realistic simulations.

This casualty simulation contract will use a team of over 30 personnel to provide realistic and credible casualty simulation training to British Army soldiers as part of their pre-deployment training. To provide maximum realism for the troops undergoing training, all simulated injuries and conditions will be robust and durable enough to withstand the application of treatments and casualty handling.

The partnership between G4S and Trauma FX provides a unique level of service, offering flexibility and a specialised workforce. The qualified and technically advanced team understand the service environment, with most of them having served in the British military on operations overseas.

Since 2007 approximately 160 G4S Gurkhas Services personnel have played an integral part in the activities of the Operational Training Advisory Group (OPTAG), using their unique attributes to fulfil the demanding roles required in pre-deployment training. Tim O'Leary, who has a military background and manages the existing MOD training contract, will also oversee the new contract.

Tim O'Leary, Director, G4S Gurkha Services, comments: "We are immensely proud to have won the casualty simulation contract. This demonstrates the diversity and flexibility of the skills within the G4S Gurkha Services team, and the expertise derived from providing security solutions in diverse environments around the world."
