Call for nominations for the 2009 Wilf Knight Award

The Security Institute : 09 December, 2008  (Company News)
Nominations invited by the Security Institute for new Student's award for undergraduates of security management
Nominations are being invited from security management students for the Wilf Knight Award 2009 which is being made by the Security Institute to honour the memory of Wilf Knight, who was a Fellow of the Institute and who passed away earlier this year. The award reflects the Security Institute's desire to encourage and recognise the achievements of new members of the security profession.

The Award will be made to the author of a management project and/or report or dissertation judged to meet the criteria for the award and to be the best project or report published in that year. Universities and training organizations are invited to endorse one submission each.

The judging panel will be looking for a project which shows evidence of particular distinction and/or innovation in methodology or theorising in the general field of security management and/ or professional security practice. The winning project report must make a valuable contribution to the development of security management.

The criteria for eligibility are as follows:.

* The nominated project report must be the author's own work, and have the support of the student's university or training provider.
* The submission should be directly concerned with the subject area of security management.
* Authors need not be members of the Security Institute.
* The author must be studying for an academic qualification in security management, and the submission must be part of the students' coursework.

All nominations and copies of the project documentation should be submitted by 31 July 2009 to the Wilf Knight Award Panel. All entrants will be acknowledged, and the judging timetable will be published early in 2009, with the winner being announced in October 2009.

News of the Award has been well received, and has the full support of the University of Leicester, Loughborough University, Bucks New University and the University of Portsmouth.
