Bringing Oracle E-Business Suite to the Cloud

Quantix : 12 November, 2010  (Technical Article)
Quantix is continuing to migrate users of Oracle-based applications to its OraCloud from traditional hosting suppliers at a rapid rate, with 3 more agreements signed during October alone.
Quantix, a UK Oracle Platinum Partner and Managed Cloud Services provider, is finding that even more UK organisations are turning away from traditional hosting organisations and instead partnering with Top Tier Oracle Specialists that have a proven Cloud Infrastructure. The benefits appear clear cut: economies of scale are available through utilising a focused Oracle E-Business Suite Specialist to both host and support complex applications, whilst many people cite 'peace-of-mind' as a driver for swapping to a service that is designed first and foremost around Application Management.

How many other hosting suppliers have the experience to offer immediate assistance with the development, integration or customisation of the application they are hosting? Due to such differentiators Quantix is continuing to migrate users of Oracle-based applications to its OraCloud from traditional hosting suppliers at a rapid rate, with three more agreements signed during October alone. The OraCloud brings together Quantix's support skills and over ten years of Oracle Managed Services experience.

Richard Salmon, Managing Director at Quantix explains, "We were the first company to come to market with Oracle applications in the Cloud, and it is has become apparent to us that organisations with mission critical applications, such as Oracle E-Business Suite, are demanding so much more from their existing hosting supplier; unfortunately it is also clear that traditional hosting suppliers simply do not have the Application Support processes, experience or skills that are necessary to provide a comprehensive service. What makes our offering unique is that we provide a fast, secure delivery infrastructure along with finely honed Oracle Application services. One stop shop is an over-used term, but in this instance it's certainly what we deliver."

The OraCloud brings together Quantix's support skills and 10+ years of Oracle Managed Services experience, with the resilience and security of a best-in-breed UK-based Cloud infrastructure. Simon Goodenough, Sales Director, states "Whilst it's clear that reducing costs is a priority for many organisations, we also appreciate that no one wishes to compromise the quality, reliability or security of application development and delivery. The OraCloudâ„¢ caters perfectly to today's market needs; not only does it provide significant cost reductions but it is scalable, resilient and includes as much "On Demand" Oracle expertise as is necessary - all wrapped up in a single, manageable monthly fee. Our offering is pretty much risk free too, due to the proof-of-concept and financial structures we are able to put together."

A platform for ISVs

The nature of the OraCloud also serves as a platform for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) who are looking to take advantage of the substantial demand for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) without having to invest in non-core areas such as DBA Support, Security & Storage. The OraCloudTM not only provides an Oracle-ready application delivery platform, supported by Oracle Certified DBAs, but it also offers access to a wide variety of application management services that can be utilised by ISVs to quickly develop, prove and launch SaaS versions of their solution.

By capitalising on experience gained through supporting over 250 managed services clients, 2500 Oracle instances and hundreds of Oracle Applications, Quantix has created an enterprise grade cloud that is capable of elevating the performance of organisations with complex applications, whilst driving down the cost of managing them.
