Brick provides strong protection for VoIP networks

Alcatel-Lucent : 10 April, 2009  (New Product)
Alcatel-Lucent is demonstrating its Brick network protection tool at InfoSecurity Europe specifically designed for use with VoIP
At stand H65 at Infosecurity Europe 2009, Alcatel-Lucent will be highlighting how the increased adoption of VoIP is leaving many organisations open to a number of severe vulnerabilities, and showcasing its new product offering designed specifically to mitigate these risks.

Cost-cutting measures within organisations have fuelled the continued uptake of VoIP - however, many VoIP vendors have failed to warn these companies of its inherent insecurity. For starters, most vendors' firewalls don't understand how to handle VoIP, and inadvertently expose organisations to denial of service attacks, call hijacking, 'fooled' billing and information theft every time a VoIP call is made. Consequently, more than 100 vulnerabilities have so far been discovered in some of the most popular VoIP systems.

In contrast, Alcatel-Lucent's Brick - a Bell Labs designed solution originally created to secure the US government's classified networks - has never been hacked and has no known vulnerabilities. The Brick's unique security capabilities help shore up defences for companies already using or planning to use VoIP, protecting all VoIP calls and web facing applications, while also ensuring high quality of service and availability at all times. Furthermore, at Infosecurity Europe, Alcatel-Lucent will be demonstrating a new combined Brick and voice platform bundle, designed to provide a complete, secure VoIP solution.
