Barionet Devices Bring More Analogue Components Into Reach of IP Surveillance

Barix : 23 June, 2010  (New Product)
IP Surveillance experts, ipConfigure, have signed up to the exclusive use of Barionet IP devices from Barix for the connection of a variety of analogue devices including locking systems and surveillance components into IP security networks
Barionet Devices Bring More Analogue Components Into Reach of IP Surveillance
Barix has announced that ipConfigure, a developer of enterprise IP Video surveillance solutions, is exclusively specifying Barix Barionet IP control and monitoring devices into IP Surveillance systems based on its Enterprise Surveillance Manager software.

The partnership will allow ipConfigure to vastly extend the number of components that can interface to its enterprise-class surveillance solutions. The strategic integration of Barionet devices into ipConfigure software solutions will also better enable the convergence of physical security and IT technologies for its customers. ipConfigure provides its Enterprise Surveillance Manager software to integrators and end users in a number of industries, including banking, healthcare, manufacturing, government, retail and education.

"The ongoing migration from analogue CCTV to digital IP Video systems provides clear evidence of the quality improvement in surveillance video," said Steve Lewis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for ipConfigure. "Although approximately 80 percent of the market is still analogue, the 20 percent that have migrated to IP are realizing the benefits and improvements. Our relationship with Barix will help our customers leverage more IP devices through the Barionet's rich feature set, opening up a new universe for our customers that were traditionally confined to closed, proprietary analogue systems."

Barionet IP devices offer a variety of connections to interface digital and analogue components to IP-based monitoring, control and automation systems. The flagship Barionet 100 device provides eight contact closure inputs (four also capable of analogue voltage sensing), a temperature sensor interface (up to 50 sensors), six outputs (four digital outputs and two relays capable of switching line voltage), two serial ports (RS232 and RS422/RS485), and expandability for additional I/O and relay devices, power sensors, etc. Barionets can be controlled over the network infrastructure to switch real-world indicators and actuators such as lights, doors locks or alarms.

ipConfigure is using the Barionet to initiate actors such as door strikes, lights and query sensors for motion detection. The company can control any number of Barionet devices through its software depending on the size of the system and/or facility, adding new Barionets and their associated IP addresses to the network as required. Once a device is live, ipConfigure confirms which inputs and outputs are useable and what actions will be taken through those connections. The company has also built a rules engine around Barionet relays to forward e-mail alerts when a field device is actuated.

"iPConfigure's commitment to an open architecture and IP Surveillance makes Barix and ideal technical partner for interfacing many different types of components and systems to its enterprise-class software," said Johannes Rietschel, CEO and Founder of Barix AG. "The programmable nature of the Barionet and its field-proven benefits gives ipConfigure and its customers a wide-open canvas for building customized and scalable IP Surveillance systems."

All Barix products are cost effective, low-power devices that are scalable to the growth of the operation; offer reliability through a PC-Free design with no moving parts; and serve as a flexible platform for integration into virtually any operation requiring monitoring and audio transport/ delivery. Barix also offers its programmable BCL standard open to all customers to easily tailor applications for specific needs. Local control, audio relay, and low-latency streaming are a few examples of custom programs using Barix' BCL software environment.
