Banking secure external network from Sipera

Sipera Systems : 25 March, 2009  (Application Story)
Sipera and Belltech provide BCI bank with real time network protection on its VoIP and SIP Trunk networks
Sipera Systems and Belltech have announced the deployment of the Sipera real-time UC security appliances at BCI (Banco de Crédito e Inversiones). Working together, Sipera, Belltech and BCI have secured the unified communications infrastructure to protect both BCI and its customers using BCI's innovative online banking services.

"By offering a wide variety of banking services online, like Internet calls redirected to our Call Center, protection for remote UC users (customers, providers and employees), Call Center interactions and new Internet ways to interact with our Bank, we can better serve our customers. The success of T Banc reflects our consumers' desire to conduct more day-to-day banking this way. Interacting with our banking clients over Internet calls, with world class security and privacy protection, enables us to offer several new innovative services that are welcomed by our customers, especially young people. The Sipera real-time security solution for our Avaya network deployment also enables us to replace our E1 trunk lines with SIP lines from our local carriers, resulting in cost savings," said Pablo Cousiño, Head of the Innovation Group at BCI. "With Sipera and Belltech, our customers can rest assured that their communications with us are secure."

Long known for its application of technology and innovation in banking, BCI's online virtual "T Banc," that includes online account setup, SMS account information retrieval, customer service calling using VoIP, and the ability to make most of the standard bank transactions online, is now able to conduct transactions over inexpensive SIP trunks, which also carry BCI's VoIP traffic at a lower cost, expanding the bank's capability to provide wide and diverse new services. The Sipera IPCS appliance not only secure the SIP trunks, but also simplifies the deployment and provides Quality of Service (QoS) reporting, enabling protection and monitoring of these critical applications for attacks, breaches and other anomalies.

"More so than many other businesses, banks are challenged to offer services online while providing the highest levels of security and privacy. BCI has embraced unified communications to better serve customers, and reduce communications costs," said John Firnett, VP Sales South America, Sipera Systems. "What's also important is that BCI recognized the need to fully secure these applications by partnering with Belltech and deploying world class UC security solutions from Sipera. "Businesses in many industries are adopting Unified Communications to create new ways to interact with clients. Our sophisticated customers understand the need for matching comprehensive security with these roll outs, and set the example for others in adopting UC," said Renán Pérez, Sales Manager, Belltech, a Sipera reseller covering South America. "Sipera's comprehensive UC security is ideal for businesses, both large and small, looking to simplify and secure UC deployments."
