Automatic Virtual Backups at German Marshall Fund By Vizioncore

VizionCore : 03 March, 2010  (Application Story)
The vRanger Pro enterprise backup and recovery system from Vizioncore provides automatic backup for German Marshall Fund in a virtual environment
Vizioncore has announced that the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) has ensured its growing virtual environment can be backed up reliably without significant hands-on time from system administrators by deploying Vizioncore's vRanger Pro Data Protection Platform (DPP).

'We selected vRanger Pro because of how well it automatically schedules a combination of full and differential backups,' said Marc Hutzell, Senior Systems Administrator for the German Marshall Fund of the United States. 'The software also reduces backup time requirements so that we have more options as to when we can schedule backups.'

Another benefit that Hutzell stressed is how vRanger Pro allows the organization to back up over its iSCSI network. 'Backups used to take too long, and the files were too large, which would bring the network screeching to a halt,' Hutzell said. 'But now we can back up over the iSCSI network in the middle of the afternoon without anyone noticing. This takes away the headaches of disaster recovery and contingency planning."

The German Marshall Fund is a non-partisan American public policy and grant-making institution dedicated to promoting greater cooperation and understanding between North America and Europe. Founded in 1972 through a gift from Germany as a permanent memorial to Marshall Plan assistance, GMF maintains a strong presence on both sides of the Atlantic. In addition to its headquarters in Washington, DC, GMF has seven offices in Europe: Berlin, Bratislava, Paris, Brussels, Belgrade, Ankara, and Bucharest.
