HID Global’s mobile access end user panel recently held during ASIS International is now available via webcast on-demand. During the event, HID Global president and CEO, Denis Hébert led a discussion on turning smartphones into secure credentials highlighting real deployments and lessons learned with Equifax, Netflix, Good Technology and Microsoft. Global security and IT experts from these companies discussed their product plans, pilots and deployments using HID Global's mobile access control solutions to unlock new ways to conveniently secure the enterprise.
“Mobile access control is significantly transforming enterprise security by enabling smartphones to open doors and access computer networks in both traditional and bring-your-own device environments,” said Denis Hebert, president and CEO of HID Global. “With the convenience of either over-the-air or cloud-based provisioning, smartphones with NFC capabilities are ushering in a new era for conveniently and securely creating, using and managing identities, with some of the industry's most innovative companies leading the way.”
In addition to the panelists discussing their challenges, successful results, and future opportunities for deploying secure identities on smartphones, Mr Hebert presented HID Global’s perspective on the complex landscape associated with mobile access that includes:
* The nuts and bolts required to facilitate mobile access: NFC-enabled handsets; the hardware that will read the digital keys from an NFC-enabled handset; and the necessary ecosystem to deliver and manage mobile credentials.
* HID Global’s iCLASS SE platform: Including HID’s new iCLASS Seos credentials as well as HID parent company ASSA ABLOY’s Seos digital keys that are used on NFC-enabled smartphones and provide improved security, privacy and portability.
* HID Secure Identity Services portal: For helping customers to create, use and manage digital keys in an environment that aligns with what security system administrators are accustomed to in the plastic card world.
* Powering mobile access with Seos: Through relationships HID Global is establishing with handset manufacturers, mobile network operators and Trusted Service Managers (TSMs) who play critical roles in the development of the NFC ecosystem; the new Seos applet for use on both SIMs and embedded secure elements; and the new business models that will ultimately facilitate the use of the technology.
