Anti malware suite for Linux

ESET : 03 December, 2007  (New Product)
Business users of linux can now benefit from improved protection against viruses and other malware with the help of a suite of new anti-malware products from ESET.
ESET has announced three new products for Linux and FreeBSD users. The new Gateway, File and Mail products provide SMB and enterprise users with the highest level of malware protection throughout their Linux infrastructure, without impacting on network performance.

ESET Gateway Security for Linix/FreeBSD provides a first line of defence against evolving threats by protecting an organisation's HTTP and FTP gateway from known and unknown viruses, worms, trojans, spyware and phishing. ESET's powerful ThreatSense scanning engine automatically checks all inbound and outbound web traffic for signs of known and new malware and the product's partial scan technique ensures that even large HTTP objects can be downloaded safely, without compromising performance.

ESET Mail Security for Linux/FreeBSD simultaneously scans email for malware, spyware and spam in all inbound and outbound traffic. The product allows for the transparent scanning of POP3, SMTP and IMAP protocols, is able to unpack archived e-mail attachments without the need for any external programs and also enables custom configuration by mailbox and filters to limit scanning based on file size, nested archives and scanning time.

ESET File Security for Linux/FreeBSD provides file servers with both on-demand and on-access scanning for all types of malware. The on-demand scanner allows administrators to select the file directories or drives to be scanned. These can easily be set as a regular task using standard operating system schedulers.

All of the new Linux products support 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems, provide multi-processor support to improve performance by allowing multiple files to be scanned at once and have an unprecedented scanning speed and detection rate. The small footprint and fast performance of ESET's products for Linux make them optimally suited for the challenging environment of systems with heavy network traffic.

"As organisations continue to grow their Linux network infrastructure, they will require highly scalable and robust security solutions that will tightly integrate with their Linux environments," said Miroslav Trnka, co-founder and CTO of ESET. "ESET's solutions, with their minimal impact on network performance and highly-configurable design, are perfectly suited for Linux environments of all sizes. As the Linux platforms continue to evolve, ESET will continue to develop the most efficient and innovative malware solutions on the market."
