Alliance improves surveillance forensics capabilities.

Salient Stills : 03 March, 2008  (Company News)
Digital evidence gathering and video surveillance analysis tools combine to produce unmatched forensic capability for CCTV surveillance material.
Salient Stills and Linear Systems have announced a partnership that better supports the management of digital evidence.

Increasing deployments of video surveillance cameras and recorders have correspondingly increased both the amount of digital evidence that may be used by law enforcement, and the complexity of managing the chain of custody. To meet this challenge, the two companies have integrated Salient Stills' VideoFOCUS video forensics software with Linear Systems' Digital Information Management System (DIMS) for customers. Under this agreement, VideoFOCUS with be integrated for clients currently using the DIMS system.

"As our DIMS product has evolved, we have had numerous customer requests to add video enhancement capabilities. We were impressed with Salient Stills' offering and felt that by integrating VideoFOCUS with DIMS, we can jointly provide the most powerful, cost-effective solution for digital evidence and chain of custody management," said Chris Parsons, President of Linear Systems.

"Crime scene video is a major source of evidence for law enforcement and the ability to manage and track this evidence is increasingly important. Not every video forensics system addresses these issues, or to the level required for prosecution," said Laura Teodosio, President and CEO of Salient Stills. "By integrating VideoFOCUS with DIMS from Linear Systems, we ensure digital evidence is prosecution-ready for our law enforcement and government agency customers."

VideoFOCUS Pro is a complete, end-to-end standalone video and imaging forensic solution for law enforcement personnel to use in the capture, analysis, enhancement, editing and management of analog and Digital Video evidence. The system has been developed in concert with law enforcement agencies around the world. VideoFOCUS Pro advances users from the capture of video to the output of stills and movies in one straightforward application. The system works with multiplex videotapes to effectively separate out all camera views for further review and enhancement, while making it easy to capture video from proprietary Digital Video players. VideoFOCUS Pro also ensures all evidence is preserved and all changes are tracked.

In use by over 500 law enforcement agencies, military, and government agencies across the United States, Linear Systems DIMS collects and manages digital photo, audio, and video evidence to simplify the acquisition and archiving of field and lab gathered digital evidence. DIMS provides access security, and logs an audit trail for the chain of custody, while automatically archiving redundant, secure data in a non-proprietary format.
