Alion hosts counter terrorism conference.

Counter terrorism and homeland security the subject of Washington conference held by Alion for federal employees and emergency services personnel.
Alion Science and Technology is helping bring together some of the leading minds in the field of counterterrorism for a security conference next month.
Alion, a global technology solutions company, is the primary sponsor of the International Association of Counterterrorism for Security Professionals (IACSP) Conference, which will be held February 28th at Alion's conference centre facilities located at 1100 New Jersey Avenue, Southeast, Suite 200 in Washington, D.C. Registration for the conference is free but limited to 300 attendees.

Sessions at the IACSP Conference include next generation training methodologies, terrorist tactics and trends, and Department of Homeland Security briefings that will include an update on the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS).

Scheduled speakers include:

* Michael Brown, Corporate Strategist at InferX Corporation and former Undersecretary of Homeland Security.
* Mary Beth Kelliher and Brian Harell of the DHS Chemical Compliance Division.
* Jeff Beatty, CEO of TotalSecurity.US and a former Army Delta Force officer who earned a Purple Heart and a Combat Infantry Badge helping to rescue hundreds of Americans.
* David Cid, Deputy Director of the Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT).
* Dennis Smith, a retired New York City firefighter and bestselling writer who volunteered to help with rescue efforts following the World Trade Centre attacks.
* Jim Caverly, Director of the Partnerships and Outreach Division at DHS.
* Rick Walker, motivational speaker and former Washington Redskin.
* Gen. Walter Buchanan (USAF, Ret), Senior Vice President with Alion and former Commander of 9th Air Force and US Central Command Air Forces.

"This conference brings out top officials in the area of counter terrorism and homeland security, not just across the federal government, but on the state and local emergency services level as well," said Don Rondeau, IACSP Washington, DC Chapter President and Vice President for Homeland Security with Alion Science and Technology. "We hope to utilise the conference as a platform to discuss some of the most pressing issues across the counterterrorism and homeland security areas and to arrive at some real solutions to these challenges."

Founded in 1992, IACSP's goals include creating a centre of information and educational services and promoting professional ethics in the counter terrorism field. IACSP members include security professionals, academics, former government officials, students and citizens from around the world.
