Air force orders zNose chemical sniffers

Electronic Sensor Technology : 21 September, 2007  (Application Story)
Trainable chemical sensors can be programmed to recognise a wide range of chemical signatures
Electronic Sensor Technology (EST) has announced that the US Air Force has placed an order for 6 Model 4200 zNose instruments for security applications. The value of the order is approximately $180,000.

Unlike conventional trace detection systems which can only detect a limited number of chemical elements, the zNose is designed to detect a broad set of vapours and recognise unique chemical vapour signatures. It can adaptively be trained to recognise the chemical profile of threats.
