Air Cargo Explosives Detection Equipment From Morpho Detection

Morpho Detection : 05 November, 2010  (New Product)
A range of systems from Morpho Detection deploys a variety of detection technologies capable of screening air cargo for the existence of explosive materials
Air Cargo Explosives Detection Equipment From Morpho Detection
Morpho Detection has announced the availability of a family of TSA-approved explosive detection systems (EDS), trace and X-ray solutions designed to work together to give freight forwarders, air cargo and passenger airlines carrying air cargo the tools they need to mitigate risk and protect passengers, crew and equipment from evolving terrorist threats.

The Oct. 29 attempt to use a hard-to-identify explosive threat points up the urgent need for more and better explosives detection for air cargo operations on both passenger and cargo flights. Morpho Detection's portfolio of qualified and approved CTX CT-based explosives detection solutions, Itemiser and MobileTrace desktop and handheld trace units, and HRX line of X-ray screeners is designed to deliver optimal advanced-technology air cargo screening.

"The 'printer bomber' incident clearly demonstrates terrorist reaction to existing security procedures and the immediate need to implement more comprehensive, complementary screening methods, based on true automated explosives detection," said Dennis Cooke, president and CEO, Morpho Detection, Inc. "Morpho Detection's TSA-qualified EDS, trace and X-ray solutions are available to complement and enhance existing cargo screening."

"Advanced-technology explosives detection solutions used for checked baggage screening today are also available to effectively screen break bulk and other cargo on passenger and cargo flights," said Glen Winn, CEO and principal consultant, Condor-Avsec. "The Oct. 29 incident illustrates the immediate need for an aggressive plan to bring these existing technologies to air cargo shipment screening."

Morpho Detection provides explosives detection equipment for the global aviation industry. Many of the biggest cargo and passenger airlines, and other air shippers, use its advanced-technology solutions to help protect their global operations. The US Transportation Security Administration has thoroughly tested and qualified MDI's explosive detection products to screen air cargo and has listed them on its Air Cargo Screening Technology List (ACSTL).

Morpho Detection's air cargo solutions include Itemiser DX desktop and MobileTrace handheld explosives detection units; CTX 5800 high-throughput, small-footprint EDS (early 2011); CTX 9800 EDS, including new high-speed configuration; and HRX X-ray scanners.
