Affiliation agreement between the ISF and Japanese Information Security organisation

Information Security Forum : 08 December, 2009  (Company News)
Joint work between the Information Security Forum and the Japan Network Security Association to bring better understanding and development of new tools for fighting cyber crime
The Information Security Forum (ISF) has signed an Affiliation Agreement with Japan Network Security Association (JNSA) to promote the development of worldwide standards and best practice guidelines for IT governance and information security. The Agreement was signed in Vancouver at the ISF's Annual Congress, which brought together some 500 information security professionals and industry experts from around the world.

This new collaboration between two leading independent, not-for-profit Membership bodies will further harness the combined knowledge and practical experience of the world's leading corporations and public sector bodies to create a universal understanding of information security and address current and emerging threats. The two organisations will also work together on joint projects and research as well as the development of new tools and methodologies.

"The ISF and JNSA share common values and goals and by establishing this new relationship we can learn from each other's members to gain a better understanding of how organisations across different geographical regions are applying best practice management, governance and controls to address information security challenges," said Prof. Howard Schmidt, President of the ISF.

"Since our formation nine years ago, the activities and results of the JNSA have gained increasing importance both domestically and internationally," said Ryoichi Sasaki, Professor of Tokyo Denki University and Chairman of the JNSA. "This new collaboration with the ISF will help to build a strong foundation of shared information from around the world to raise awareness and promote greater overall information security."

The ISF was established 20 years ago and is a not-for-profit, association of some 300 leading international companies and organizations, which fund and co-operate in the development of practical, business driven solutions to information security and Risk Management problems. The ISF undertakes leading-edge research and has invested more than US$100 million to create a library of over 400 authoritative reports along with information risk methodologies and tools.
