AEP Networks Comments On Control Of Identity Fraud

AEP Networks : 17 October, 2011  (Technical Article)
Ministerial disposal of official documents prompts comment on exercise control over all forms of communications to prevent identity fraud
AEP Networks Comments On Control Of Identity Fraud
In the wake of revelations that Cabinet Officer Minister Oliver Letwin disposed of official papers in a public bin in St James’s Park, AEP Networks makes the following comments:

“Paper is the most insecure way to store any document. In today’s electronic world we really need to be thinking a lot more about what we need to print out – this applies as much to cabinet ministers as does to the rest of us. Provided rigorous encryption is used with appropriate access control it’s far better for all information to be stored and disseminated electronically so that only the intended user can read it.

“This is a high profile example but there’s been many others. Identity fraud is estimated to cost the UK £1.2 billion annually with over 100,000 victims every year. This figure could be slashed drastically if both business and individuals exercised adequate control with documents and information.”

AEP Networks provides the highest grade security technologies to government, military and enterprise organisations to support their mission critical applications and networks.
