Advisory Board Of the Americas Grows at (ISC)2

(ISC)2 has appointed three new board members with rich industry backgrounds to participate in the organisation's advisory board for the Americas region
(ISC)2 has appointed three new members to its Advisory Board of the Americas (ABA), featuring top information security professionals from Boeing, Deloitte and Scotiabank.

The new members are:

Marie Olson, CISSP, CISM, CIPP - Olson is a senior manager with the Global Privacy Office at the Boeing Company. She has managed a variety of functions in her career, including computing and information security policy; education, training and awareness; compliance management; government programs security support; security quality assurance; and vulnerability assessments. Olson is nationally recognized for her expertise in global regulatory compliance issues, technical and business process safeguarding strategies, and meeting the challenges of balancing enterprise security issues with business realities.

Greg Thompson, CISSP - Thompson is an IT and security professional with 20 years of industry experience in industries ranging from telecommunications to the financial services industry. He presently works as VP Enterprise Security Services for the Scotiabank Group in Canada where he leads a large multi-disciplinary team responsible for a broad range of IT security services, including security governance, consulting, regulatory compliance, vulnerability management, research, network and forensics, cryptographic services and business continuity management.

Dan Waddell, CISSP, CAP - Waddell is currently a senior manager in the Audit & Enterprise Risk Services, Technology Risk practice of Deloitte & Touche, LLP. Based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Waddell focuses on delivering security and privacy solutions to federal clients, specializing in areas such as certification and accreditation, information assurance, cybersecurity, risk management, incident response and disaster recovery. He has over 17 years of experience in information technology and security, leading several projects for clients such as several branches of the US armed forces, the Internal Revenue Service, the Transportation Security Administration, the Department of State and the Social Security Administration. Waddell is also an active participant in (ISC)² initiatives such as the Safe and Secure Online program and the CAP Exam Development Working Group.


Benjamin Gaddy CISSP, CSSLP, SSCP, CISM, information assurance security project manager at Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and Jerry Pittman, CISSP, global information security strategy officer at General Motors, have also been appointed new co-chairmen for the advisory board.

'The (ISC)² advisory boards are composed of highly knowledgeable and respected professionals who assist our organization as volunteers with their invaluable insights into the information security industry,' said Hord Tipton, CISSP-ISSEP, CAP, CISA, executive director of (ISC)². 'We are very appreciative of the new members and co-chairmen for their commitment to our organization and the profession.'

(ISC)² established three regional volunteer advisory boards for North and South America, Asia-Pacific and Europe/Middle East/Africa, as well as a US federal government advisory board, to provide guidance and feedback to the (ISC)² executive management team on pressing local information security policies and trends and make recommendations regarding its professional certification and education programs.
