Advances in analogue video technology

Panasonic System Solutions : 25 September, 2009  (New Product)
Panasonic is continuing to develop its range of analogue video surveillance technology products with new announcements at ASIS
Panasonic continues to support and improve legacy video surveillance systems with new technologies and products that offer advanced functionality and superior system performance. Introductions at ASIS 2009 include new analogue cameras with Panasonic’s exclusive Super Dynamic 5 imaging technology, new Digital Video Recorders with H.264 compression and real-time recording capability, and a new system management server designed to accommodate both analogue and IP Video devices.

“Panasonic continues to build on its established line of analogue video surveillance solutions with new technologies and products designed to deliver greater performance and functionality,” said John Centofanti, National Sales Manager, Panasonic System Solutions Company’s Security Systems group. “In addition to supporting legacy systems, these new analogue devices provide a seamless migration path to networked systems on both a system-wide or satellite level.”

Panasonic’s newest analogue cameras include the IP66-rated WV-CW504 Vandal- Resistant Fixed Dome camera series and WV-CP500 Box Camera series with the company’s next-generation Super Dynamic 5 (SD5) image processing. Advanced features include: Adaptive Black Stretch (ABS) technology for better images in dark areas; intelligent-Video Motion Detection (i-VMD); Day/Night operation; Auto Image Stabilizer for stable focus when switching from color to B/W; 3-dimensional colour conversion for natural colour reproduction; Adaptive Digital Noise Reduction; and overthe-coax cable data communication. Both units deliver 650 lines of resolution in colour mode and 700 lines of resolution in B/W mode with light sensitivity of only 1.0 lux in colour and 0.01 lux in B/W.

Panasonic’s new WJ-HD716 16-Channel Real-Time Digital Video Recorder (DVR) features a proprietary UniPhier System LSI Platform to provide real-time field recording of 480/400 images per second (ips) and frame recording of 240/200 ips, and H.264 compression for more efficient use of disk space. Key features include: intelligent Video Motion Detection (i-VMD) with Super Dynamic 5 Link (SD5Link) to share metadata information between cameras and the recorder for advanced motion detection processing and alarm handling; dual HDMI video outputs for true 1080i High Definition playback; and 16 analog video inputs, 16 coax camera control inputs and four audio inputs.

In addition Panasonic introduced the WJ-HD616 16-Channel H.264 DVR that provides 240/200 ips (field) and 120/100 ips (frame) recording. The unit features 16 analogue video inputs, eight coax camera control inputs and four audio inputs.

Panasonic’s new PMPU1000 System Management Server delivers flexibility and scalability for a range of video networking needs, including creation of a global system with universal cross-network access to video. Key features include flexibility to mix a range of devices, from matrix switchers, DVRs and analogue cameras to IP cameras – whether pan-tilt-zoom, fixed dome or fixed box – and various network recorders; a user friendly administrative console; and a satellite feature enabling 64 stand-alone servers to be linked into a global system. The PMPU1000 supports Panasonic's PFW950 GUI client software.
