In light of the news that Apple is introducing two-factor authentication across its iCloud function, Ash Patel, regional director of Stonesoft has made the following comments:
“As cyber security is now an everyday concern, Apple moving its customers towards a two-factor authentications ((2FA)) system highlights the importance of security not just for business, but now also for the average consumer. It shows how cyber security will, and is, becoming part of our everyday lives. Security processes should no longer be seen as an obstacle by consumers but as a value-add.
“Competitors to Apple need to strive to offer similar services in order to give customers confidence. However this is just one step on the ladder, and as technology evolves and hackers evolve these organisations need to keep looking and thinking about the security levels they adopt and offer customers. We must understand cyber security is an arms race and we all need to keep trying to be one step ahead.”
