Software-as-a-Service supplier chooses Sophos to provide proactive protection to its web and e-mail security solution customers |

IT security and data protection firm Sophos has partnered with Optenet, a company involved in enabling SaaS offerings and delivering "on-premises" security solutions, to provide proactive malware protection for Optenet's web and email security solutions customers.
Sophos's high-speed malware detection technology is now fully integrated across Optenet's web and email security solutions - Optenet WebSecure, Optenet MailSecure, and Optenet NetSecure. A single scan from the Sophos engine protects against viruses, spyware, worms, Trojans, and adware.
SophosLabs - the blended intelligence behind all Sophos security technologies, including the malware scanning engine within Optenet email and web solutions - analyzes 50,000 new malware samples every day.
As today's threats are more sophisticated, targeted, and fast-moving, it's critical to stop malware before a specific detection update can be released. Sophos Genotype malware detection technology proactively blocks families of malware threats and analyzes the behaviour of the code before it executes, therefore protecting users from 90 percent of unknown threats.
"The web has become the biggest breeding ground for malware - every few seconds, legitimate websites are being compromised by cybercriminals looking to host their wares," said Francisco Martin Abreu, President and CEO at Optenet. "The internet is an essential means for businesses to research, gather, and promote information via blogs and social networking sites, so it's imperative that end-users are protected at all times. The integration of Sophos's proactive malware scanning capabilities with Optenet's web security offerings provides our existing and future customers the highest level of protection without impeding their end-users' browsing experience and productivity."
"From the early stages of discussions, it was evident to both Sophos and Optenet that there was great potential to integrate our technologies," said Michael Rogers, Vice President of Global Alliance and OEM at Sophos. "Optenet has extensive experience and knowledge working with ISPs and telecom operators and Sophos has long developed proactive security solutions built specifically for the enterprise. Merging Optenet's security capabilities with our unique malware protection was a natural fit."
