Prisoners facing parole on early release in the US state of Missouri will be tracked using TSI Prism from Alanco Technologies.
Alanco Technologies has announced that the Missouri Department of Corrections (MDOC) has selected the Company to provide TSI Prism systems for up to an additional five probation/parole early release facilities. The MDOC previously purchased two TSI Prism systems in 2006, which have been operational in similar facilities located in Farmington and St Joseph, Missouri. Two new contract installations valued at approximately $300,000 will commence immediately at facilities located in Hannibal and Kennett, Missouri, with additional facilities to be scheduled in Kansas City, Fulton and Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The total potential value of the new contract is approximately $750,000. The Missouri early release facilities, housing up to fifty inmates each, will be utilised to re-integrate inmates from a prison environment back into society or, in certain cases, serve as an alternative to a state prison sentence. Inmates are permitted to leave the facility during the day for work or to seek employment and return at specified times. Lower operating costs at these facilities reduce the state’s overall cost of incarceration. Alanco’s TSI Prism system will assist in managing inmate movement, automating scheduling and headcount, and electronically monitoring inmates’ activity within the facilities. Alanco/TSI Prism President Greg Oester commented, “We are pleased to have been able to demonstrate the benefits of our TSI Prism technology in the two previous Missouri early release facilities which were completed in 2006. This new award confirms the commercial viability of our RFID tracking technology for the ‘smaller facility’ segment of the corrections market.” |
