Mobile VPN from Columitech enables field officers in Wisconsin police to gain secure remote wireless access to central computing resources
Columbitech has announced that the Saukville Police Department in southeast Wisconsin chose Columbitech for a citywide implementation of its intelligent mobile VPN. Columbitech’s security solution now allows Saukville police officers to obtain fast, secure and uninterrupted access to remote data from laptops while working in the field. This eliminates time spent in the office filling out paperwork, and significantly improves the overall efficiency and response time of the police department. Prior to using Columbitech, the Saukville Police Department used a radio-based system which provided a slow connection and very limited access to applications and data. Police officers now experience a persistent connection to mission-critical applications such as, Traffic and Criminal Software (TraCS), Titan Public Safety Solutions (TiPSS) as well as Internet and e-mail. This allows the officers immediate access to identification and incident records while on duty and in the field rather than waiting to return to their desk. “We are very pleased with the fast results achieved using Columbitech’s mobile VPN.
