ArcSight ESM placed in magic quadrant for Security Information and Event Management by Gartner
ArcSight has announced that Gartner has positioned it in the Leaders Quadrant of the 'Magic Quadrant for Security Information and Event Management.' The report, by Mark Nicolett and Kelly Kavanagh, was published on May 8, 2008.'ArcSight is pleased to be positioned in the leaders quadrant in this Magic Quadrant. We believe that our position confirms our strategy to provide customers with a comprehensive solution for collecting, analysing and monitoring enterprise event information and reaffirms our ability to provide proven solutions that enable customer success,' said Robert Shaw, chief executive officer of ArcSight. The ArcSight platform includes an integrated product set for collecting, processing and assessing security and risk information in all areas of the SIEM landscape. ArcSight ESM performs real-time event correlation; ArcSight Logger performs log aggregation, reporting, and real-time alerting; ArcSight Threat Response Manager provides guided response to detected violations. Each of these products makes use of the event collection and normalisation technology in ArcSight's connector appliances. Finally, ArcSight Solution Modules deliver best practices for compliance via pre-packaged rules, reports, alerts and dashboards. The Gartner report stated, 'The SIEM market is being driven by three factors: the emergence of user and resource access monitoring as the primary customer problem to be solved, the demand for the technology from a broad set of customers, and the availability of the technology from large vendors that also sell related products or services. SIEM is one of the fastest-growing security markets, with a growth rate of more than 50% in 2006, 30% in 2007 and estimated revenue reaching more than $800 million in 2007.'
