Aruba networks offers advice on ensuring successful remote working on national Work from Home Day
Tomorrow is National Work from Home Day – an initiative designed to encourage more companies to trial mobile and remote working as part of Work Wise Week UK.Roger Hockaday, Director of Marketing EMEA at Aruba Networks – a global leader in secure wireless networking and mobility solutions – has made the following comments: “This is a brilliant idea in theory, but unfortunately the reality is that many companies still aren’t properly equipped to allow their employees to work from home – and even those that do allow it aren’t enabling their staff to be as productive or secure as they should be. Access to corporate email alone isn’t enough – to truly replicate the working environment, companies need to seamlessly deliver all enterprise voice, video and data applications to ensure maximum productivity away from the office. It’s easy to do now – but few organisations do it. Security is also an issue. Home networks are often uncontrolled and unsecured, providing an easy target for hackers. Because employees can’t be expected to understand the myriad of threats that exist, organisations need to keep remote and home networks on a very tight leash and ensure that security policies can be enforced beyond the office. In short, people move, so networks and associated policies must follow. As such, organisations have to seriously rethink their corporate IT models if they are to successfully deliver the enterprise experience to mobile workers without inconvenience or stress. Companies should look to deploy end-to-end mobility solutions that extend the corporate wireless network into employee homes so that their working experience is both secure and complete.”
