Alliance between AppGate and rugged hardware supplier, Aqeri results in robust security solution for mobile computing both for industrial and defence sectors
AppGate Network Security and Aqeri have joined forces to develop a new rugged mobile security solution specifically for customers in the defence and industrial sectors, and rescue services, where personnel need to access mission critical information often whilst working in tough or hazardous environments. AppGate and Aqeri will be at the NATSEC08 conference in Brussels, 30th September - 2nd October, demonstrating the new ruggedised solution in Sun Microsystems’ booth. When customers working in some of the roughest and toughest environments in the world need an end-to-end secure access solution, all elements in the solution need to be strong and dependable. With AppGate working together with Aqeri, and Sun Microsystems hardware with Solaris operating system built into the AppGate security server, customers can be confident of receiving a truly strong solution. Both companies, AppGate and Aqeri, have their heritage in the Swedish defence sector and now have many customers in the defence sector. The defence industry sets some of the most wide-reaching and demanding requirements for security solutions and therefore this partnership brings together two rigorously tested and proven technologies. “Many of AppGate’s customers demand secure access to information while working from tough and exposed environments. Customers from the world’s military, police and rescue forces see the benefits in dependable secure mobile solutions. With Aqeri’s rugged terminals that is now possible,” says Goaran Marby, CEO at AppGate Network Security. “We are extremely pleased with AppGate’s decision to adapt their security solution for our platform. This way we can not only offer our customers and partners the possibility to access information from tough places, but also the ability to access the information securely,” says Anders Brismo, CEO at Aqeri holding AB. “Our customers all use computers and communications equipment in extreme conditions, and having secure access to business critical information under these conditions is a huge advantage.” Built into the solution are all the necessary security elements such as authentication, authorization, encryption, access control, client control, monitoring and reporting to reliably allow secure access to critical information. As always AppGate security servers build on existing proven functionality such as Application Layer Firewall, Mobile & Fixed VPN, Granular & Role based Access and End-point Security Control.
