New CFO to oversea strategic growth at Webroot

Webroot drives harder into consumer and corporate security markets with recruitment of experienced chief financial officer


Webroot has announced the appointment of Frederick Ball as Chief Financial Officer. Ball will oversee Webroot’s financial operations and help to drive the company's strategic growth initiatives.

'Fred’s significant experience with effectively managing financial growth for global technology corporations will help ensure we continue to expand our business strategically and maintain our market leadership.”

Ball brings to Webroot over 20 years of leadership experience transforming global organisations. Most recently Ball was Chief Financial Officer for BigBand Networks where he led the company through a successful initial public offering in 2007. Following the IPO, Ball was responsible for scaling BigBand Networks’ infrastructure to support its rapid growth and ability to operate as a public company.

Previously Ball was Chief Operating Officer of CallTrex Corporation where he was responsible for the early stage company’s infrastructure and the sale of its corporate assets in 2004. Ball also held senior leadership roles at Borland Software and KLA-Tencor. Ball also spent over 10 years working for PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Ball is Chairman of the Audit Committee for the Electro-Scientific Industries Board of Directors. He received a bachelor of science in Accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
