Secure access to digital resources in federal agencies available through partnership between Qwest and Route 1
Qwest Communications International is introducing a security and identity management product for federal government agencies that provides universal and secure access to all digital resources and sensitive data. Qwest Government Services is partnering with Route1 to make the offering available to agencies under the Washington Interagency Telecommunications Systems (WITS) 2001 Crossover contract. “This technology provides increased security for federal government systems and will help agencies meet the mandates for programs such as teleworking and continuity of operations planning (COOP),” said Diana Gowen, senior vice president and general manager of Qwest Government Services. At the heart of Route1's solution is MobiNET, a communications and service delivery platform focused on identity management and entitlement-based access to resources. Making use of the power of MobiNET is the award-winning MobiKEY, an ultra-portable computing device that connects users to their desktop data, applications, network resources and Web content from any Internet-enabled Windows-based PC. “Our trusted solution addresses the security concerns and requirements for the federal government and are now available through Qwest’s comprehensive network, which has a proven track record of selling into agencies across the US government,” said Andrew White, president and CEO of Route1. The agreement between Qwest Government Services and Route1 is effective immediately. The companies jointly exhibited this week at the AFCEA Identity Management Summit at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Centre in Washington.
