Double-Take joins Alternative Technology to create distribution network for Virtualisation protection products including disaster recovery
Alternative Technology is launching a suite of virtualization protection solutions with Double-Take Software. Alternative Technology will make use of its Virtualisation presence in the North American channel and its education and technical resources to offer a host of Double-Take Software solutions, including Double-Take Virtual Recovery Assistant, Double-Take for VMware Infrastructure and Double-Take Livewire. “Double-Take Software solutions enable our channel partners to provide comprehensive virtual solutions in managing the full physical to virtual conversion life-cycle management process,” said Tom Zorn, executive vice president, Alternative Technology. “Double-Take minimises downtime, provides in-guest hypervisor disaster recovery protection once the conversion is complete and a low-cost full server protection solution with on-demand recovery for lower-tier servers.” Double-Take Virtual Recovery Assistant simplifies the process of migrating to VMware ESX virtual machines by automating the provisioning of the virtual environment and reducing end-user downtime associated with traditional physical-to-virtual (P2V) migration products. The feature is used to automate the protection of workloads running on physical servers, moving them to virtual machines automatically in the event of a server outage or site-wide disaster, or permanently for the purpose of P2V provisioning and repurposing those licenses for disaster recovery. Double-Take for VMware Infrastructure provides hypervisor-level protection between two VMware hosts and allows administrators to centrally manage and monitor multiple virtual machine protection jobs from any Windows desktop. Double-Take captures the .VMDK changes, keeping the target virtual disks up to date and ready for failover, recovery and backup over any distance. Should an outage occur, the replicated virtual machine can be started on the target server with up-to-date replicated data. Double-Take Livewire provides continuous full-system image backup from many servers or locations to a centralised recovery server. Everything on the protected server(s), including data, applications, operating system and configuration information, is continuously replicated to the repository server allowing that entire server to be easily restored to its most recent state or to a previous point-in-time snapshot. Images can be recovered to dissimilar physical hardware or can automatically provision a virtual machine providing a cost-effective full-server recovery solution with a few simple steps.
