CounterSpy and Vipre scans reveal the top ten spyware and malware threats that existing during April


Sunbelt Software has announced the top ten most prevalent spyware and malware threats for the month of April 2009. The report, compiled from monthly scans performed by Sunbelt's award-winning antispyware tool, CounterSpy, and its anti-malware solution, Vipre Antivirus + Antispyware, is a service of the Sunbelt Software Malware Research Labs.

The results represent the number of times a particular spyware or malware infection was detected during CounterSpy and Vipre scans that report back to Sunbelt's community of opt-in users.

The top ten most prevalent spyware threats for the month of April are:

2 Virtumonde 3.42%
3 Trojan.1 3.16%
4 Trojan-Downloader.Zlob.Media-Codec 2.60%
5 Virtumonde.Traces (v) 2.11%
6 Trojan-Downloader.Generic 1.97%
7 Exploit.PDF-JS.Gen (v) 1.63%
8 Trojan.StartPage.HMH 1.61%
9 BehavesLike.Win32.Malware (v) 1.41%
10 INF.Autorun (v) 1.35%
