In three separate incidents today, security guards have come under attack robbers in Leeds, Airdrie and Carlisle

In Leeds, a 44 year old has been hospitalised after being stabbed in an attack on him and his colleague involving three masked men. The guards were targeted as they were replenishing ATMs in the early hours of the morning. The helmeted guards were struck over the head and attacked with knives before the thieves made off with a five-figure sum.

A similar incident involving a similar amount of money also took place in the Scottish town of Airdrie where security guards were threatened with knives as they were filling a cash machine at the town’s Clydesdale Bank. The guards were uninjured.

The attackers escaped with the money in a silver BMW which bore the same stolen registration plate as one used in an unsuccessful robbery during the last week when they tried to rob security guards in Hamilton.

Robbers in Carlisle meanwhile, have been caught. The thieves, armed with golf clubs and wearing Halloween masks, attacked a security van carrying cash in the Harraby estate of the city just before 9am. After a pursuit involving a number of police vehicles, three suspects were arrested with one still being searched for.
