The department of electrical engineering at the University of Kent is engaged in a significant research programme into biometric technologies including sources of identification data, integration and reliability.
The research group examines all aspects of biometric identification including facial recognition, handwriting analysis for recognition purposes and the application of multi-modal biometrics which uses a combination of different identification sources.
New research is currently underway to examine user behaviour at biometric terminals to understand sources of variance to enable future biometric systems to be developed which are less sensitive to user behavioural characteristics.
